Munich Climate Week (MCW) brings together diverse perspectives from across society. This diversity is important to addressing climate change, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening resilience to its impacts, and supporting the transition towards a low emission and climate resilient future.
MCW works with partners and sponsors that contribute to this transition and to Munich Climate Week as an independent platform for exchange, learning and collaboration.
For the purposes of MCW: Partners are organizations or institutions that contribute by creating, hosting or supporting events and activities during Munich Climate Week, or by providing agreed in-kind contributions.
This policy explains who may participate as an official MCW partner or sponsor and the circumstances in which MCW may decline or limit participation.

Participation as an MCW partner or sponsor does not constitute certification or endorsement of an organization, its overall environmental performance, or its products, services, positions or claims. MCW provides a platform for exchange and collaboration while maintaining its independence.

MCW may work with businesses, startups, academic and research institutions, civil-society organizations, community groups, public institutions, media organizations and other stakeholders that contribute to the transition towards a low-emission and climate-resilient future, public learning and constructive cross-sector collaboration.
All partners must communicate honestly, respect MCW’s independence and meet our climate-integrity standards. This includes avoiding greenwashing and other forms of climate-action misrepresentation. The depth of screening is proportionate to the nature and visibility of the relationship.
Where relevant, our assessment is informed by an organization’s commitment to decarbonization and climate resilience; its climate targets and transition plans; alignment with recognized international standards or frameworks; and, where applicable, independent validation, assurance or reporting of climate-related commitments and progress. We may also review material climate-related regulatory findings, litigation, controversies or other relevant information. The existence of litigation or a controversy does not in itself determine or exclude eligibility; it informs our overall assessment and, where appropriate, dialogue with the organization.
MCW seeks to avoid greenwashing and other forms of climate-action misrepresentation while providing space for constructive dialogue, learning and improved climate performance. Climate-action misrepresentation includes communication or conduct that creates a materially false, exaggerated, vague, unverifiable or incomplete impression of environmental performance, climate commitments or transition progress.
MCW is a non-partisan platform. To safeguard this independence, political parties, party branches, electoral campaigns, candidates acting in a campaign capacity and organizations whose primary purpose is to represent or advance the interests of a political party do not participate as official MCW partners or sponsors and are not included on MCW partner or sponsor logo walls.
This does not prevent MCW from engaging with policymakers or political representatives as part of substantive climate and policy dialogue. Ministers, parliamentarians, mayors, councillors and other public officials may be invited in relation to their public function or subject-matter responsibility, rather than their party affiliation.
For the current edition, MCW’s public and political engagement is focused primarily on Munich and its local and regional context. In line with this focus, MCW does not include official representatives acting on behalf of foreign national governments in its official programme or as official MCW partners.
