Munich Climate Week is a shared platform for honest climate action. Every event hosted under MCW - and everything communicated within it - must meet international and high standards for environmental integrity, scientific credibility, and social equity. This is not optional. It is what makes MCW meaningful!

Our commitment and yours

MCW exists to accelerate real climate action across all sectors. Climate is both an urgent challenge and a genuine strategic opportunity — for business, finance, policy, and communities alike. We welcome diverse voices and perspectives. What we do not accept is greenwashing: vague, unverifiable, or misleading environmental claims that undermine collective progress. Avoid other forms alongside greenwashing, including greenlighting, greenhushing, lobbying/pledge mismatches, SDG washing, undisclosed climate litigation, and related climate action misrepresentations.

By hosting an event under the MCW banner, you commit to upholding these standards — in how your event is run, and in what it communicates.

Our shared values

All MCW events must reflect:

• Inclusivity — Climate affects communities unequally. Acknowledge trade-offs, centre affected voices, and ensure your event is accessible.
• Transparency — Disclose your data sources, methodologies, and limitations. Hide nothing material.
• Collaboration — No single sector or organisation owns the climate solution. Reflect the systemic nature of the challenge.
• One voice, many perspectives — Different sectors, one scientific direction: aligned with the Paris Agreement goal to limit global warming to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels, while pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase even further to 1.5°C
• Gender equality and social equity — Consistent with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), events must reflect equitable representation across gender, geography, and sector.

Track A — Event operations

How your event is physically produced must be consistent with the values of Munich Climate Week.

Carbon footprint. Any claim ("carbon neutral," "low impact," "sustainable") needs a measured GHG inventory (GHG Protocol or ISO 14064-1) with the scope stated. "Carbon neutral" must meet PAS 2060. Offsets must be verified (Gold Standard or Verra VCS), additional, permanent, and shown separately from real reductions — never blended into one number.

Venue. Sustainability credentials must reference a named standard: DGNB, EU Energy Performance Certificate, LEED Certification, or equivalent. Generic claims are not sufficient.

Sponsors and partners. Organisations whose core business activities contradict their stated climate commitments may not sponsor or co-brand MCW events. Sponsorship is an alignment signal.

Equity in practice. Accessibility, speaker diversity, travel support for underrepresented contributors, and fair supplier labour standards are operational requirements, not optional extras.
